How areas are selected
Areas group NASA VIIRS detections using 0.28° density neighbourhoods (about 30 km); a connected area can span farther. At least 6 detections are needed; major areas account for at least 4% of summed detected fire radiative power. Repeat passes can count the same fire. Upwind is a ±35° surface-wind heuristic, not a transport forecast. Detections are not confirmed ongoing fires. Detected heat is not a measure of haze reaching Singapore.
Detection history is loaded only on request to save mobile data. Consecutive detection days do not prove continuous burning.
